Newly renovated township hall is open

Fenton Twp. — On Monday, June 5, Fenton Township officials unveiled the newly renovated lower level of the Fenton Township Civic Community Center, which has been used for civic meetings as well as public and private events for years.

"When we started this project, we had initial conversations, saying that this is something we want to build that's going to last 20 or 30 years, and I think that we did that," said Supervisor Vince Lorraine. "I think this is going to be one of the best venues in Fenton Township, if not in the state. It's a beautiful place."

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Fenton Township Board of Trustees approved spending between $250,000 and $255,000 to renovate the room. The project came in under budget. The goal was to make the hall into one of the best local venues for weddings, open houses, meetings and other events and get-togethers. The work took about three months to complete.

The hall has new flooring, new walls/drywall, new LED light fixtures, new carpet on the raised platform, a new meeting table, new ceiling tiles, a new restroom and new kitchen countertops.

The newly remodeled room can accommodate up to 200 guests and includes a new meeting table that can seat up to 12 people.

"I have been on the board for over 14 years and to me, this is one amazing venue. You can imagine the events that could be held here, not just weddings but open houses. Anything that you can imagine, you can do in this room. What makes this room special to me is the team that put it all together," he said.

Lorraine thanked the township board, Servpro, Commercial Caseworks, Funchitecture, Skaff Furniture Carpet One, Commercial Caseworks, RDS Multimedia and Signs by Crannie for their work during the project. Servpro was the primary contractor.

After the renovation, more of Lake Fenton is visible on the far side of the room.

"You used to see Case Island and about half the trees. Now, you can see the sky. It absolutely just changes the whole room," he said.

The township is accepting reservation requests for the hall.
